Employee representation in company administration promotes the flow of information
Representation in administration refers to the right of employees to elect their representa-tives to the employer’s administrative bodies.
National representation in administration is organised at the request of employees in companies that have at least 150 employees in Finland, as specified in the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings. Representation must take place in an administrative body that deals with important business, financial and personnel issues, but in other respects its arrangements may be freely agreed between employer and employees.
If no agreement is reached, the secondary provisions of the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings apply. However, the Cooperation Ombudsman may, at the request of the employer, grant permission to derogate from the provisions concerning the manner in which representation in administration is carried out.
